I am a Christian. It’s the single most important thing anyone can know about me. I chose this path as a teenager, and now in my sixties, I continue to choose it. Christ is the cornerstone and guiding light of my existence and all other considerations flow from this point. This includes my writing. It explains why I added the quote from St Paul’s letter to the Christians at Philippi to the first pages of Stuck in Traffic. The same quote forms the basis of my prayer each morning before I commence writing. Everyday I see examples of truth, nobility and righteousness in the lives of people with whom I come into contact. They will not trend on social media nor will they make the world stop and stare, but they are the glue that holds us together. They remind us that we truly are made in the image of God. In our busy, stressful lives, it is easy to miss them and so, for a brief moment, I’ve tried to shine a light on them in the hope that both reader and writer will feel that much needed lift of thankfulness for the goodness we see around us in our daily lives.
